MENU PROJECT_Modifiers (Ceramics II)
Each Ceramics II student will be randomly assigned a modifier for their chosen menu project- a visual problem introduced into the design process meant to challenge, to encourage strength in visual problem solving and to forge further innovation into the creative process. This year, the modifiers include:
- GO BIG!!!! increase the scale of the product in order to explore the significance of the Principle of Design, Proportion, within their work.
- LIMITED COLOR PALETTE students are limited to designing solely with the color of the fired clay itself, plus two colors of their choice, forcing a constraint in the relationship with the Principle of Design, Variety, while relating closer to the Principle of Design, Unity.
- REPEATED TEXTURAL FORMS using a simple abstract form created quickly in the hand of the student artist, the creative process of form will be repeated again and again, over 40 times, and then attached to the sculptural design in order to explore the Principles of Design, Rhythm & Repetition.
- ONE IS STRONG, THREE ARE STRONGER sculpt the same piece simultaneously, three times, allowing the personality of each piece to shine through design, further emphasizing the roles the Principles of Design, Variety, Contrast & Emphasis, have upon the work.
